Solana co-founder Raj Gokal recently took a firm stance against the skepticism surrounding meme coins. Furthermore, they maliciously targeted Ethereum founder, Vitalik Buterin, as he defended meme currency projects. He also attached a picture of Buterin to the post to make his position bold and clear.

Solana co-founder takes aim at Vitalik Buterin

In a post on X, Gokal stressed the importance of embracing diverse use of permissionless systems, despite the concerns of traditionalists. “Meme coins scare away serious builders,” Gokal wrote, highlighting community sentiment amid the growth of such projects. However, he quickly followed this up with a clear reminder directed at Buterin.

“May I remind you of the ‘hard builder’ who set all this work in motion?” he said. Additionally, the attached blurry image of Vitalik Buterin was a not-so-subtle reference to the Ethereum co-founder.

At the same time, Gokal’s statement appears to defend the enthusiasm surrounding meme coins. The Solana founder also suggested that those who reject such trends may struggle to thrive in the fast-paced world of cryptocurrency innovation. He added: “If you are fragile enough to be appalled by the way young people choose to use unlicensed systems to have fun, you simply cannot succeed here.”

The post notes the ongoing rivalry between Solana and Ethereum, two prominent blockchain networks vying for dominance in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. However, Buterin has not responded to Gokal yet, leaving room for further discussions on the topic.

Meme coin makers are seriously efficient

In a recent statement, Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, came forward in support of the meme coin founders, echoing the sentiments expressed by Gokal. Liu emphasized the competence of many meme founders, noting that they are “seriously competent builders.”

Addressing the skepticism surrounding meme coins, Liu noted that these creators may not be creating “fundamental value” in the traditional sense of price-to-earnings ratios. Instead, President Solana highlighted the importance of community value in the cryptocurrency space. Additionally, she emphasized that memecoin founders are actively working to build alternatives to the economy centered around “financed” communities.

However, Gokal and co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko have always tried to protect the Solana community from potential scams. They advise against trusting random sales of Solana meme coins on X. Although meme coins are being promoted, they advise researching the project thoroughly before investing.
