Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, backs the memecoin project linked to one of the first cat videos on YouTube that appeared in 2005. The meme coin, called Pajamas (PAJAMAS), runs on the Solana blockchain.
The video was uploaded at the time in 2005, and the skit shows Chen’s cat, Pajama, performing a Nick Drake song. Although it has been 20 years since the cat’s passing, the memecoin project aims to celebrate him. Although he was not initially involved, Chen joined after being mentioned by several users.
His involvement in the Web3 world through pajamas has exposed him to trust issues within the space.
“Whenever I want to meet someone important or influential in the Web3 world, there is at least one person who warns me never to meet or talk to that person.” He added: “Every day on Telegram, there are at least 25 new people trying to find a way to steal my money.”
However, a large number of cat-related memes and tokens within the Crypto community have shown tremendous growth with projects like CatCoin (CAT) and popcat (POPCAT) gaining traction.
